  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping)

  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour to form a roux, cooking until bubbly.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened. Stir in pumpkin puree and nutmeg, then add shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  4. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, ensuring even coating.
  5. Preheat the oven to broil (450°F). Transfer mac and cheese to an oven-safe dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
  6. Broil for about 3–5 minutes until breadcrumbs are golden brown. Serve warm.
