  5. Divide the dough into two pieces, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out one piece of dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick, then cut out festive shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Place cookies on prepared baking sheets about an inch apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until barely golden around the edges. Cool on wire racks before decorating.
