  • 4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup toasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Drizzle apple slices with lemon juice and toss with sugar until coated.
  3. Toast hazelnuts on a baking sheet for about 10 minutes until golden.
  4. In an ovenproof skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Gradually add sugar, stirring until smooth and golden brown.
  5. Arrange apple wedges in the skillet and sprinkle with toasted hazelnuts over the caramel.
  6. Cover with puff pastry, pricking it with a fork for ventilation.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before flipping onto a serving plate.
