Beef Tamales are a delightful Mexican classic, featuring seasoned ground beef enveloped in fluffy corn masa and wrapped in tender corn husks.   • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 cups corn masa flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 10 dried corn husks (soaked)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak dried corn husks in warm water for about an hour.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and ground beef; season with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is fully browned. Let cool.
  3. In a bowl, mix corn masa flour with baking powder and salt; gradually add chicken broth until you achieve a soft dough.
  4. Spread two tablespoons of masa on each soaked husk, add one tablespoon of cooled beef filling, fold up from the bottom, tuck in sides, and tie if desired.
  5. Steam tamales upright in a steamer pot for about an hour until firm.
