Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (100°F to 110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it proof for about five minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture.
  3. Form the dough: Mix until combined, then knead on a floured surface for about eight minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let it rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for one hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape breadsticks: Punch down the dough gently, divide into ten equal portions, and roll each into long sticks.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
