  • 2 large yellow onions (about 400g)
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded (about 100g)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tbsp butter (28g)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (15ml)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with olive oil. Add thinly sliced onions and salt; sauté for 25-30 minutes until caramelized.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface; cut into squares or circles.
  4. Place pastry pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spoon caramelized onions onto each piece and top with shredded Gruyere cheese.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!
