Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in peppermint extract.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just blended.
  6. Divide dough in half; color one half red and one half green using food coloring. Roll into logs and twist together.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized balls onto prepared sheets, spacing them two inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
