  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 8 large butter lettuce leaves
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lettuce leaves under cold water and set aside. Mince the garlic and chop the basil.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef for about 5 minutes until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add minced garlic, soy sauce, chili flakes, and half of the basil leaves to the skillet. Stir for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, mix lime juice and sugar until dissolved; adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. To assemble, place some beef mixture on a lettuce leaf, top with remaining basil leaves, and roll up tightly.
  6. Serve on a platter drizzled with lime sauce.
