Basic Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together and set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, granulated sugar, and melted butter until light and fluffy.
  • Gently mix the buttermilk, vanilla extract, and milk into the egg mixture.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then add red food coloring for desired pink hue.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • Dust a clean kitchen towel with powdered sugar, flip the baked cake onto the towel, peel off the parchment, and roll it up while warm.
  • Whip together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth, then fold in heavy cream.
  • Once cooled, unroll the cake, spread the filling evenly, and roll it back up without the towel.
  • Chill seam-side down in the fridge for at least one hour before slicing and serving.
