How to Make Buttermilk Waffles

  • In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together warm buttermilk with melted butter until smooth. Then, add eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until evenly blended.
  • Carefully pour the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. It's okay if the batter is slightly lumpy.
  • Let the batter sit for 10 minutes to activate the baking powder.
  • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions and lightly grease the surface.
  • Pour ⅓ to ½ cup of batter onto the waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Carefully remove your waffle and repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm with toppings.

Notes

Top with powdered sugar for an extra special touch. Customize waffles with chocolate chips or fresh berries if desired.
